A good start to the season for the Year 7 cricket team, in a match against Kingsmead School. We were put into bat first, with some early wickets, Myles K and Reece D steadying the ship and guiding us to 58 runs off our 16 overs.

Our bowling started strong, with Herbie F grabbing an early wicket. However the experience of some older players managed to get Kingsmead through to the end, knocking off our score in 10 overs.

The team thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they put up a really good fight in their first hardball game. A big thank you to James H for helping to coach, umpire and score!

Improving school attendance is everyone’s business and to tackle the challenge we face we need to work together. Only 36% of children in KS4 with an attendance of below 90% got 9 to 4 in their English and maths GCSEs, compared with 84% of regular attenders.

Regular school attendance can also create positive peer relationships, a protective factor for mental health and wellbeing. From the first day of term to the last, the small moments in a school day make a real difference to your child.
