”I was delighted to have been appointed Head Teacher at The Taunton Academy in September 2015 and I joined the staff in November, working two days a week. From January 2016 I took up post full time and it is fair to say that even in this short period of time I could not be more proud of the academy, its students and its staff.
”I came from an academy in Cornwall which is deeply rooted in the community. People are important to me. I started my career as a language teacher (French and Spanish) but have taught many different subjects over my twenty year career, including Maths, Music and Personal, Health and Social Education. I have led Student Welfare, Behaviour, Attendance, Child Protection and Year 6 Transition for many years – a child centred approach is key to everything I do.
”Every student deserves the very best education, both with respect to the academic curriculum and also with regards to whole child development. As a mum of three children, I want to know my children are happy, safe and making excellent progress in order to give them the very best life chances. At The Taunton Academy we strive to ensure all students have a positive experience every day, where they see learning as both important and enjoyable and, as a result, achieve beyond their potential.
”There are several opportunities throughout the year to visit the academy and see what we do and who we are. Open Evening this year is on the 15th September. Equally, I am always very happy to welcome visitors to the academy at any time. Please contact Reception in order to make an appointment. I look forward to being able to welcome you in person.”
