Audiences were treated to a magical phenomenon when they saw the excellent stage production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. The cast consisted of talented pupils in Years 7 – 10 who communicated Shakespeare’s first rate comedy to a really high standard.
Combining Shakespeare’s text with songs, dances and a multitude of costumes, the production zipped through the tangled storyline at breakneck speed, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats from the start.
This is the best performance we have staged since the academy was founded. I’m really proud of the staff and students who have worked like a professional company and given up so much of their time to make it so brilliant.
The production was produced by Head of Faculty Mrs Webb with her team also creating costumes, making props and working backstage. Mrs Geldenhuys choreographed the dance routines whilst the stage management, lighting and sound was all run by students. Mrs Veal said “The cast were wonderful and it is always so special to see students performing like it was second nature. It was fabulous!”
