Our team of fabulous Year 10 cricket players (and one Year 9) competed in the first round of the Lady Taverner’s Indoor Cricket competition. Although they were nervous to start with and took a while to gain confidence, hit out and score runs, they soon found their form and I’m delighted to say that along with Chilton Trinity they have qualified for the next round. The winners of the next round (where the girls will play Chilton and probably Castle School) will then go on to play in the county final against the winners of the independent schools competition at the Somerset County ground.
Jamilla, although getting travel sick on the way and spending the first innings being poorly, bounced back and batted with confidence scoring 13 runs. Emilia also batted superbly. Ellie, Izzy and Poppy bowled well and made life difficult for the opposing batswomen. Sophie, Maisie and Auguste were superb in the field, keeping runs scored to a minimum.
A huge thanks to Auguste from Year 9 who stepped up at the last minute to play, following two of the squad being off sick and one not available. I am super proud of the girls who have been very committed to training and fully deserved their success. They were also great company and great ambassadors for our school.
