The Taunton Academy has a proud and honourable history of serving its community with Integrity and Respect.  We provide exceptional care for all students and maintain high expectations and standards, providing good role models to whom students can aspire and fostering outstanding relationships. Our principal values are central to everything we do and link well with our three academy rules of Ready, Respect and Safe.

The Vision

The vision of the Trust is to create an environment which enables partner schools, such as Taunton Academy, to deliver exceptional education. These are:

As a Church school, we celebrate individuality and diversity and encourage all students to reflect upon themselves and the world around them. We provide opportunities to extend students’ understanding of all faiths, as well as the place of Christianity within society, in order to have greater respect and tolerance towards others. We aim to equip our students for life beyond the academy by promoting a love of learning, a sense of awe and wonder in life, and by developing resourcefulness, resilience, reflectiveness, reciprocity and responsibility.

The personal and emotional needs of the staff and students take high priority alongside a real commitment to Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education (SMSC). This supports and reinforces the aims of the Taunton Academy, valuing all students equally and as individuals. All staff work together to create a happy, challenging, stimulating and caring environment in which students can enjoy their time at school and celebrate their achievement.

The school strives to build a community which encourages all its members to develop a healthy respect for each other.  In addition, we provide a happy, stimulating and caring environment where there are opportunities, encouragement and stimuli to develop each student to their full potential.

The Taunton Academy is a Church of England Secondary School and part of the Richard Huish Education Group.  We support, care for and inspire our students, while maintaining high aspirations.  Our mission is to guide our students to become independent learners – securing the best possible outcomes and engendering pride in themselves and their community.

Our over-arching vision, encompassed in John 10.10 is one of human flourishing for all. It is one in which there is an expectation of excellence and academic rigour at all levels and embraces the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and social development of students.

The Taunton Academy cares, nurtures, and values everyone regardless of faith and background. We respect individuality and diversity and encourage students to reflect upon themselves and the world around them. This is reflected in our school values of Aspiration, Integrity and Respect

Richard Huish Education Group is an independent charitable organisation established by Richard Huish College, an academy sponsor approved by the Department for Education, to support local schools. The group has a clear vision to provide exceptional education and training through the delivery of a holistic and vocational curriculum achieved through a shared set of values:
