History is taught to every student in Key Stage Three and is one of the most popular choices for GCSE.
The following topics are covered in Key Stage Three.
The GCSE beginning in September 2016 allows the students to study the following exam topics:
Crime and Punishment in Britain, c1000 – Present
Anglo-Saxon and Norman England, c1060 – 1088
Whitechapel, c1870 – 1900
Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918 – 1939
The Cold War 1941 – 91
There are many trips in History. Year 7 go to Chepstow Castle, Year 8 visit the Museum in Taunton. Students who are Gifted and Talented in History will have the opportunity to do a special study day at The Fleet Air Arm Museum.
For students in Year 10 and 11 there is opportunity to participate in a four day trip to Poland to visit the concentration camp at Auschwitz. In addition for GCSE History students there is a chance to see “Hitler on Trial” as part of their revision of Nazi Germany.
