Junior Mathematical Challenge Online
We are very delighted to announce that our more able mathematicians from Year 7 and Year 8 competed in the UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) Junior Mathematical Challenge online on 3rd July 2020.
Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC) is a 60 minute, multiple choice competition aimed at students across the UK to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
We are pleased to announce some of our best results in the competition. Our pupils won a total of nine medals, including two gold, two silver and five bronze.
A big round of applause to our gold medallists Alexis with 115 points and Kyran with 102 points, who were the top scorers and have qualified to take part in follow up UKMT competitions.
Well done to George and Noah who won a silver medal. Special mention to Oliver, Megan, Evie, Stefania and Zofia who won a bronze medal.
It is an incredible achievement and a sign of great things to come for these mathematicians.
We are very grateful to the UKMT for organising this competition online. A big thanks to parents and teachers for their support.
At The Taunton Academy we will carry on providing opportunities to our more able students to compete in national competitions to enrich their mathematical education and inspire a love of problem solving.
We look forward to celebrating more great results in the future.
